·
Chapter 7 and
Chapter 8 Lab Reports are postponed to May 18, 2007, Friday. Since this means
you have plenty of time ahead of you, I expect you to especially submit
EXCELLENT Chapter 7 reports (Chapter 8 Lab Report is a simple one). If you show
extraordinary performance, this will be rewarded. Meanwhile, reports that are
not well written, unstructured or reports that are full of unjustified answers
or full of solutions in which sufficient logical development is missing will be
severely penalized. So, prepare your reports accordingly.

·
You can now see
your lecture attendance till the end of March
23, 2007 (first 8 weeks).
·
Please contact me
through email (eulusoy@ee.bilkent.edu.tr) if you think that there is something wrong,
but before that, please read the remarks below.
·
Each x denotes
ONE ABSENT HOUR.
·
Suppose that you
were absent in the two lectures of 1st March, and present in the two
lectures of 4th March. On the records, you may see that you are
counted present on 1st March lectures and counted absent on 4th
March lectures. So do not immediately get surprised if you see that you are
counted absent on a day that you were actually present in class.
·
The important
thing for you to CHECK is whether an error has been made in the TOTAL COUNT of
your MISSED LECTURES.
·
Please make
objections only if you think that there is an error in the total count.

Starting from
tomorrow (March 13, Tuesday), I (Erdem Ulusoy) will be giving a recitation on
every Tuesday till the end of the semester (except for the midterm and night
lab dates). The recitation will take place in one of the B building classes (we
will fix the exact location during this weeks recitation) and will start at
18:00 pm and continue as long as we wish. Attendance is not compulsory; you can
consider this recitation just as an office hour. During these recitations, I
will try to answer all your questions and clarify your minds about possible
blurred issues. Note that due to my heavy schedule, it seems that I will not be
able to spare any other time apart from these recitations for your questions,
so I strongly recommend you to attend these recitations, at least try to attend
some part of them if you cannot attend all. If you already have some unclear
points in your mind, or determined some questions to ask during the recitation,
and if you can, please send an email to me before coming to these recitations
about the question or topic in your mind, so that I can think on that issue
prior to the recitation in order to be most helpful to you, and we will save
time during the recitation (you will not wait for me to think on the question)
So, please be ready at the entrance of B building on Tuesday if you wish to
join this recitation. As I said, we will find a suitable class when we
meet.

In your Chapter3
Lab Reports, you are specifically expected to answer/ comment on the following
laboratory exercises of chapter 3: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16. You
do not need to write anything related to other exercises. However, make sure
that sufficient justification and logical development is provided in all your
answers, especially in questions 2,6,7,9,11, in which you are expected to carry
out some theoretical analysis.
·
HW4 is postponed
to Monday, so you will be submitting your HW4 along with your Chapter 3 lab
report.
Feb 24, 2007
·
HW3 solutions are
posted and available through the course web page.
Feb 22, 2007
·
Past exam questions
and solutions are posted and available through the course web page.
·
Recall that you
are expected to submit your Chapter 2 lab reports tomorrow. Let me remind you
once more of our late submission policy: If for some reason, you will not be
able to submit your report till tomorrow, but you manage to submit it before
next weeks Friday, you will be penalized by 10% in your grades. (The maximum
you can get will be 90 out of 100) If your submission will further be delayed
to the second week, you will face a 20% penalty. In the third week, this will
become 30% and so on. You can contact and speak to me on this matter if the
explanation is a bit ambiguous for you.
·
Next week, on Monday (February 26, 2007) Asst. Prof.
Sinan Gezici will be giving a recitation starting at 17:40 pm in one of the EB
classes (the exact location will be fixed just before the recitation). All
students (section 1 and section 2) can attend the recitation (attendence is
optional, it is not mandatory). This is a good last minute chance for you to
ask questions about points that are not clear to you before the first midterm,
so I strongly advise you to plan your time schedule accordingly and join the
recitation.

will be announced later.
·
During the
tutorial hours of this week, I (Erdem Ulusoy) will try to arrange a time slot
for a two (or possible three if there is such a demand)-hour weekly recitation.
1.
I plan to give
this recitation every week from now on regularly, at a place where the entire
2007 spring class (that is, all of you) can fit and meet (I would prefer a
class within the B building)
2.
Due to my weekly
schedule, we should be having this recitation hour from 17:40 to 19:40 (or
20:40) on one of the weekdays. During the tutorial hours, I will conduct an
election and ask you to vote for one of the weekdays (Monday to Friday) Based
on the results of the election, the recitation schedule will be decided and
announced.
3.
Attendance will
be optional, but I think this will be a good opportunity for you to
1.
ask questions about
points that you could not clearly understand,
2.
ask me to solve
some problems and see how they are solved,
3.
and listen to key
remarks about your ongoing lab work related to TRC-10 (function of different
modules, debugging strategies, subjects that are not covered in class time due
to time restrictions)
4.
So, please think
of a suitable time for you (within the mentioned time slots see item 2 above)
till the tutorial hours of this week, and be ready to vote on Thursday.
