The structure of the brain. Learning in machines. Pattern recognition. Classification techniques. Linear classifiers. Basic Neuron. Modeling the single neuron. The perceptron. The multilayer perceptron. Kohonen self-organizing network. Hopfield network. Neural network classifiers. Adaptive resonance theory. Cellular neural networks.

Students will practice and apply neural networks through programming projects.
